I guess not everyone wants a horror game. What I think is that in order for a game to be considered scary it has to be dreadful, with potential threats lurking around unknown corners, with only visual styles of NPC's and their reactions to how you move to be clues on how to avoid getting killed by them. When you buy a horror game (non-VR) there are elements that the game has to maintain that climatic dread. with jumpscares well placed and lore to go along with. While this game has shallow lore, with scrolls that someone scribbled on to help the player understand their current circumstance, the gameplay aspects for a well-done horror game are present. Vanish was a horror game that had the objective of getting a key to a door, find the door, and get out. In this game, you find the 'key' and the door is in the same room. This isn't a bad thing because seeing that eye on a pedestal makes me legitimacy sigh every time I found it.Going back to my first bit about this game being VR. All the aspects of a horror game are greatly amplified when it's in front of you, the player, as you yourself have to turn around slowly when you swear you hear something behind you. you the player who has to peek the corners to avoid running right into that living proof that God ain't in that maze with you.VR worked wonders for this game and I do hope to see more titles being released as VR horror. maybe this review was a review of the genre horror but I really think that Dreadhalls is a staple game for it so cheers.(it says I played two hours only but I bought this on the note9 Samsung VR headset or whatever and I've racked up large hours on that with unsuspecting friends.. Wow, truly one of the best VR survival horror games out for the HTC Vive! Controls are perfect with FREE LOCOMOTION - no teleporting needed - and the control system itself with Vive controller tracking and room scale support works just lovely.I have only played for around an hour so far, but already almost sh*t my pants a few times - the jumpscare scenes are great, but the best part is that the game is scary even when nothing is happening for the moment - and that's how a good VR horror game should work. Its all about the atmostphere, sence of presence and immersion in the game. All in all, I just love Dreadhalls so far - and I would recommend this to anyone out there with a Vive! Price is low, so its definately a must-buy if you enjoy horror games - and if you dare to play them of course :) CheersSweViver. this is by far very far the best game i have played on vr. it is almost to scarry to play and i dont get scarred by games. i really liked this game plus it took me forever to finish it.. Yikes. Just about pooped myself on stream, very sp00ky. 10/10 Absolutely the scariest experence I have ever had playing a video game. The pure terror you feel rounding every cornor, opening every door makes this game amazing. Absolute MUST BUY for any horror genre lover!. I haven't seen any other review say this, but this game is basically Amnesia: The Dark Descent in Vr. Same type of horror Amnesia gives off. Has the same type of game play, other than the sanity meter is not present.This game is definitely worth getting for $10. About 2 hrs of game play. just got the game and played for about ten minutes. glad it didnt cost much because im not sure i can bring myself to play it again! scared the hell outta me and ended up running into a wall :'D. I have been following this game since the early days that oculus was in development, This game is hands down the best vr indie horror experience you can get for the vive/oculus today I love how they added room scale and motion controllers makes the immersion 100 times better!
